- NICOLO Infants, "Baby Graves" in Pleasant Green Cemetery, Magna, Utah -

In the span of my grave finding days thus far, I have encountered many
"Baby Graves"

Which are essentially entire lots in the cemetery that they have

buried numerous children in.

Most are without markers for the children there.

Many of the markers not even where the child is potentially buried.

For Pleasant Green Cemetery in Magna, Utah

you only needed a permit in the early

1900's to bury your family member or child.

One such family who obtained permits where the Nicolo family.

Luigi and Angelina Nicolo 

buried three of their children there.

He obtained the permits and buried them himself.

Unfortunately they are unmarked in Pleasant Green

The only knowledge we have they are in these

Baby Graves

are word of mouth passed down

generation to generation

This is what makes your story so important. 

Why writing it down means so much..

So our children's children know:

My family is here, even if there isn't a marker

They ARE here.

This lead to meeting a wonderful woman, LaDean and her family

researching the baby graves, Pleasant Green and her wonderful family.

Which I enjoyed very much, hearing their stories, seeing her love of family history.

That is what makes it all worth it.

MEMORIAL

to the Babies

I think it's well worth the trip to Magna to see it.

The "Baby Graves" are located on the South East side of Rio Tinto Road

So many children are here who aren't marked,

but they are never forgotten.

The three Nicolo children who are there:

Son Nicolo (mispelled Nocolo) b/d 1917

Daughter Nicolo b/d 1914

and Leona Nicolo b/d 1915.

They are never forgotten.

- The not so missing, Elizabeth Noon Dunyon -

I have received plenty of requests listing the wrong cemetery in Salt Lake, since so many are named nearly alike...but this is the first case of a wrong name.

It was known

Elizabeth Noon had married John Dunyon.

What wasn't known

1. She divorced John Dunyon pre 1855
2. She remarried, James Lawson
3. She had four children
4. She divorced James Lawson by 1910.

Quite a lot happening there for one  

pioneering woman 

in Utah in the 1800's!

She was however found in the correct cemetery as stated :

Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park

Belmont Garden

Lot 144

With her "husband" James Lawson

and one of her children.

Family history...

It has it's twists and turns!

Today was a simple day

only two names I am seeking.

at a wonderfully organized, clean,

and completely serene cemtery.

I ran out with the youngest after school,

after calling to locate the two.

They were both in

Reverence Garden

so this was going to be easy!

The first was simple to find, right where they said

Lot 279 C2

the second not so easy.

He's unfortunately unmarked...

so Rollin Conley ended up being placed on Findagrave as this:

his place of burial, in Lot 54 grave C3.

I always hope to not have to place these types of photos...

The only consolation

at least they know where he is, even if

there isn't a stone.

Tomorrow is a few names to research,

placing flowers on my brother and family in Alpine

and Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park

Draper Cemetery and

West Jordan Cemetery

to finish a few names I've volunteered to photograph.

There have been quite a few questions today,

not only asking others to create memorials to post new family members!

(but some unexpected)

Near John and James Edwards were some graves that

weren't known to the recipient of the photos.

We thought instantly of possible wives...

until today.

I located the death certificate of Marion!

daughter of John Wm and Ethel Parker, sister of James!

When I couldn't locate Ethel Fern, I went to the Utah Archives,

Under Ethel iti s listed she is the daughter of John and Ethel as well!!

I was so excited, I created memorials, added the photos

and transferred them to the requestor.

Sometimes when I find a photo that a person doesn't recognize,

I hope those stories turn out like today.

With two children and their headstones, finding a place on

Findagrave with their families

 for others to find, view and be happy

they knew that person!

I also went to Valley View Memorial Park

and

Pleasant Green Cemetery

to place flowers on

my friend's grave

I only had time to clean around his stone a bit,

weed, and move his flag.

I plan on going back to add his flowers and place some bulbs around

his wife Thelma's grave next to him.

At Valley View, it was to see my Grandparents graves and

my aunt and uncle, who are buried there.

I enjoy going to pick up my mom and just going out

to her father and her step mother's final resting place.

To place flowers on her younger brother,

and this time I had the chance to show her the grave of her sister.

Her adopted sister that is 23 days older than her.

I wish I had the chance to know them,

I didn't get the chance in life.

So I hope they know how much they mean to me,

by how I take care of them when they aren't here..

It was a gorgeous day today.

Sun was shining,

not many clouds in the sky

after a nice cool rainy morning...

We headed out early to make sure 

I was back in time to pick up the kids from school...

It took some time

to look through each name

locate them and their location,

and then head out to the gardens to look!

And found almost ALL I was looking for! 

Here's what I locaetd :

I always take the graves around the name that I'm

looking for, as they may be possible family.

And today was no different.

There were SO many with others around

or near them.

It was all in all a wonderful day...

and I'm excited to have them posted, but

exhausted from all the walking!

BURIAL Search : Pleasant Green Cemetery, Magna, Utah

I was asked today about a burial in the

Pleasant Green Cemetery

in Magna, Utah.

The only information known:

She was a young mother, believed to have the last name of Harding.

She had small children.

They recall trucks being left on the gravesite.

It was approximately 15 years ago.

I searched through most of the burial records and located, one name.

Not 15 years ago, but close at 13.

So I searched the archives until I came across her obiturary.

I feel very strongly this is the young mother he spoke of, so I am sharing her obiturary here:

Nicole Magleby Newman

1975-1998

Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Nicole Magleby Newman returned to her Heavenly Father and the loving arms of her grandmother on March 2, 1998 from Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH). She fought a courageous battle for 2 1/2 years.

Born September 12, 1975 in Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter of Wayne Ross and Eloise Collings Magleby. Married Dennis Devar Newman on February 14, 1994. She loved being a mother and her pride and joy was their 3 year old son, Denver.

Nicole enjoyed participating in gymnastics. She attended Granger High School. She loved coloring and molding clay into what ever came to mind. She loved collecting mice and Minnie Mouse, and loved fishing. Nicole was well loved and will be missed by many wonderful people.

Survived by her husband, Dennis; son, Denver; parents, Wayne and Eloise Magleby; brothers and sisters, Dawn (Jed) Ogden, Jeff (Natalie) Magleby, Kevin Magleby, and Pam Magleby; brother-in-law, Eddie Bogue; mother-in-law, Diane Newman ; seven nieces and nephews; grandparents, Fred and Loa Jean Collings, Ruth Magleby, and Deloris Weeks; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by grandmother, Reve' Collings; grandfather, Arlo "Jim" Magleby; uncle, James Magleby; and cousin, Douglas Collings.

Special thanks to Dr. Elliott, Sandy, Natalie and their staff, and the staff at LDS Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 7, 1998 1 pm at the Taylorsville 24th Ward, 2976 W. 4270 South. Friends may call Friday 6-8 pm at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 South, Magna, and Saturday 12-12:45 pm at the church. Interment: Pleasant Green Cemetery.
